Is it really necessary to buy a plane ticket for my daughter? She will be under 2.?

I don't have the money to buy my daughter a plane ticket for a seat and since she is under 2 (shes 21 months for be 2 in sept.) its not required that i buy her one. And last time i flew i always had a seat next to me open in fact they made sure i had a seat for her just in case of an emergency and I'd need the oxygen mask. I fly from SEA (Seattle- Tacoma, Wa) to RAP (Rapid city, SD). Last time there was a ton of turbulence which scared me but everything turned out okay. I didn't take my carseat but this time around i would take just her cosco carseat from wallmart. I'm just wondering if it is "REALLY" necessary to buy a seat.

Backyard Ice Rink Questions?

I know it is only summer, but i want to start planning for a backyard ice rink in the winter. My first question is where can i get a plastic tarp/liner because i don't want to wait for the snow which most likely will not fall until january? Flagstone/stone on top of concrete?

We have a concrete patio 25 years old. It has two surface cracks and one deeper one that we repaired by sanding down and filling. The soil below is adobe. We'd like to cover the concrete with stone, but are aware that we don't know if the original concrete is reinforced in any way. We have heard of "Latex modified thinset" as a base then trowel it - then put on the stones on top. We are concerned about movement (northern California & the cracks already in the patio) - so, should we just sledge hammer out the concrete and start over(ugh) or can we move forward? We will likely hire someone to do the work, but we'd like a heads up on how to talk about it so we don't get the wrong information. Any help will be delightful. I asked a question earlier about finding out my husband is using drugs. We have a young son, and I am in school and pretty much relying on him until I get out of school and it is just a rough situation. I confronted him on the phone, and he didn't deny it, but he just said "you don't know the whole situation and it isn't as often as you think, it is not a big deal" I found it in his truck. A gumball sized bag of what I have deduced by searching the net is crystal meth. It is not okay to me. I am not a drug user, and have never tried it. I love him and after 12 years I am hurt. I called an old friend of his who told me it has been going on for over 15 years. I know that my husband never sleeps, and yes he works super hard and makes a ton of money, but some of the answers I got were pretty much telling me that it is OKAY if he does it to "keep up with his job and our home" Why ? Why is doing drugs okay if you are still making money and holding down a job? Is the fact that he makes good money and provides for us a good reason for him to do drugs in order to work longer hours? His job is fun for him and not demanding and he loves it, so this excuse doesn't cut it for me. So my question to you is if your husband or wife uses drugs in order to provide a more than decent life for you, do you think that makes it okay? Why?

My just turned 5 year old, small, yellow lab/JRT bit me Tuesday. We got him from the pound when he was 6mos. For the past 9mos though, he's been an inside dog. He was super trained and mild mannered. He was my 6th dog. He was my first small dog, and the first dog I had ever gotten from a pound/shelter. The second time he tried to bite me I was laying by the patio door in the living room, I was an had been rubbing him for the past 30min. I made No sudden movements but he turned toward me and went after me twice. He missed the first time cuz I jumped, I was laying on my stomach. I rolled with my hands over my face trying to get up and he did it again. This time I have a tooth scratch and bruises on my head. My mom threw him in his kennel cuz he was acting crazy. She didn't want him inside in the first place. The first time he tried to bite me was a month ago. We got him his first rawhide bone and he guarded it fiercely. I crawled past him looking for an earring on the floor and he tried to bite my face. I didn't understand because he has never been aggressive with us with his food or any of his toys. We have to get him put down Saturday. I feel terrible, my mom wanted to have him killed. She was compassionate torward me, but hates the dog with a passion. He is staying outside for now. :( We talked to his vet, and they said the same thing.

How to grow vegetables on a patio garden?

We live in an apartment complex, and I have always wanted to grow vegetables. The problem is, the fence is tall and we have a huge sycamore overhead, so we barley get any light. The only place we have light is on one fence railing (that's where I have been growing a couple of radishes in a small pot) but it isn't very big and can't hold much weight. We also have a dirt patch surrounding the patio (about 12 feet long and 2 feet wide) but it gets no sun. Other than radishes, I also have two fava bean plants growing and they are now taller than me, but combined, they only have 4 bean sprouts. Is there any way I can grow some veggies on my patio? I have thought about upside down tomato planters, but I don't know if they will work when you ony have flickers of shade throughout the day in only some places that are higher up. Oh yeah, and I'm also starting carrots in a place that has about 4 hours of sun... That's the most we get and it's tiny. So yeah, is there any way I can grow veggies on my patio??? HELP PLEASE.

Sell my house with back property taxes?

My wife inherited the house we live in from her mother. Baby crow stuck between boxes/pots/plants?

Weeds in cracks of sidewalk / patio made with rock slabs?

I re-did an old sidewalk a few years ago: it had been rock slabs a couple inches thick, but they were widely spaced and almost covered with grass. I dug down six inches or so, put down landscape fabric, then crushed gravel, then sand, laid new stones on top, and filled the cracks with sand. Also, had wood boards along the sides. It looked nice for a little while, but then after time and mowing with grass clippings etc. landing on it, grass began to grow in the cracks again. It pulls out relatively easily because of the sand, but takes most of the sand with it so you would have to be continually replacing the sand. Did I do something wrong? Is there any way to avoid the weeds, or would you have to fill the cracks with something hard (cement?)? I'm afraid the filler would crack.

Apartment manager neglects to repair anything?

I recently moved in an Apartment complex and have had many issues with repairs. I contacted the owner and he did not respond. I called code enforcement who agreed many of these items needed to be fixed. Now the owner is angry with me. Also I paid a200 non-refundable pet deposit but why? there is already huge pee/poop stains all over the carpet. The owner said because he had a steam cleaner person steam the rugs it is fine to rent in this condition. The patio deck is about to fall down the wood is rotten. I dont want to move but rather have these things repaired as they should have before I moved in. Any suggestions? There was over 100 nails in the walls when I moved in so the owner had only 2 walls painted and the painter got paint all over the ceiling.

On the left is our daughter's swing set. there is some open green space in the middle that the kids use to play and run around. off the house is a deck and patio. back on the left there is an extra strip that goes back maybe 30 feet and is probably 10 or 12 feet deep. towards the front of that space is a big tree (over 100 years old) that we would never cut, but the roots make it impossible to grow anything. and because it is "around the corner" it never gets used. any suggestions on what we could do to make it functioning usable space?

Two days ago my HVAC system was sounding very loud. It is located inside of my apartment. I asked in Higher Education "Who is telling all these kids that extracurricular activities are really important?" I wanted to know because there are a lot of questions there about things like "Can I get into Harvard?" or "Can I get into this school?" or "How can I get into an Ivy League school?" Well, I went to an Ivy League school and graduated. In these questions kids neglect to list things like SAT scores and then list ten to twenty extracurricular activities. They have an almost religious faith that extracurriculars are the most important thing in a college application, when in fact, it's the least important thing, as I found out in college. Anyway, they said the question was reported and deleted it. I got a lot of rude answers and non-responsive comments. I had one kid tell me flat out that I was wrong. Well, I've been through the application process, and I had basically only two activities that I was really involved in. I've even heard a former admissions officer make fun of applicants for doing volunteer work because everybody knew they were doing it to pad their resumes. Does the truth hurt this much? Patio laying opinions for a smallish patio.?

It depends on the story. Sometimes its important and sometimes it isn't. However, I do think its nice to have some diversity in a story. But if race/ethnicity isn't a huge part of the story, I would rather have a character's ethnicity revealed subtly and not made into a huge ordeal. That just seems like you're trying too hard. I think names are usually a safe way to go. Perhaps the way they talk. For example I once had a Mexican-American character who threw a little Spanish into his dialogue every once in a while. Again, I think its better to be kind of subtle about it. Readers are smart enough to figure things out.

Ok we have 2 little pine trees by our pole barn and my grandma walked out on the patio and there were two dead baby birds and one alive. The cats killed one and ate the other. I have one that I overwintered in a pot in the house. Most of the winter I had it in a west facing window and it produced one good lemon. It was blooming again and I moved it to another location it just didn't like and it dropped all its flowers. I took the mister out of it and am thinking about moving it more into the shade too. Patio Furniture Glass needs to be replaced or cleaned?

Since I was a child I've had hearing problems - but not physical hearing problems. I always test very well, but this doesn't mean I am able to "hear." When people are talking to me I frequently have to deduce what they were saying based on a few words I did hear out of a sentence (or two or three).

My parakeet just lost a friend so i got him a new one but he isn't to friendly, what should I do?

So I had these two parakeets named Zipper and Sailor. They were BEST FRIENDS and inseparable. Then one day they were hanging on a hook in their cage on our outside patio, my dad (who is very tall) walked without seeing it and knocked it off the hook. The cage fell apart and Zipper was molting so he couldn't fly but Sailor got away. We put the cage back together and got Zipper inside, luckily he wasn't injured. But Sailor flew off somewhere, and we knew from one time when we separated the two that they both started to flip out and were chirping for each other. So Sailor was gone and Zipper was all alone so my mom brought me to Petsmart and I got a new parakeet, we asked the gender and the lady said that it was too young to tell what gender but she guessed it would be a girl. I named her Lila and she's a very pretty bird. We put her in the cage and they don't fight but they don't interact and sometimes Zipper nips her to keep her away from him and one time pushed her off the perch. I REALLY hope that Sailor is okay and that he might return to us but those chances are slim to none and if he did he would be traumatized. What should I do to make them friends with each other? I know that I should just wait but I can't help but worry. I don't know if it matters but none of them are hand-trained. Please help me.

Beats by Dre.. which one for me?

I'm a teen (15), and I was planning on buying some beats by Dr.Dre. I was thinking of either getting one of the solos in white or the studios in white. I don't know the difference between the solos or solos HD, what are the differences? I definitely do not want the in ear headphones, to me they are uncomfortable. Is there something mentally wrong with my husband or is he just an alcoholic?

My husband and I have been married for 13 yrs. He has been a heavy drinker off and on throughout our marriage. More on than off. I have had it! He drinks at home BUT he does stupid things while he is drunk. For example, he has picked up prostitutes several times while intoxicated. He claims that he only did drugs with them, as if that is suppose to make it ok. During those binges he would spend his whole check plus some, leaving us broke. He hasn't done the prostitute thing or disappearing all night thing in about 4 years. YES, I kicked him out for those acts and he couldn't come home til he had been tested for all types of STD's. He even on one occassion while I was at work and he was suppose to be watching our 2 daughters, whom at the time were only 3 yrs and 1 yr old, he took them and picked up 2 prostitutes while he had our 2 daughters in the vehicle. My 3 yr old told me about it. That was about 9 years ago. He now drinks at home every night. 6 pack plus. Mostly he will clear a 12 pack. He will sit out back on our patio by himself while the kids and I are in the house and drink like a fish. It's not like he drinks a couple drinks to relax after work, he drinks til he is drunk. The kind of can't walk straight, running into things drunk. I am not a drinker or partier, and when he's in his drunken stupor it disgusts me and makes my stomach turn! My daughters are now 9 and 12 and they hate his drinking. They have lost alot of respect for him, his drinking, and his actions. We walk on egg shells while he's intoxicated due to the fact that if we say something he don't like he tends to throw a fit. Hits walls, curses at me, the list goes on. Here lately he has become very possessive and clingy to me. Wants to be right next to me, don't want me to go anywhere without him, etc. He's driving me crazy. He constantly wants to touch me inappropriately while the girls are in the same room. He will try to hide it from them by getting a blanket and trying to touch under the blanket. It pisses me off because our daughters are in the same room, and I do not want them witnessing this. Then there's everytime the kids are outside or not home he wants to whip his penis out and try to shove it in my face, just very disrespectful. He has developed a foot fetish suddenly. I don't know where it comes from all a sudden, but he wants to constantly rub and suck on my feet. He has never been into that before. BUT here is the BIG kicker. My 2 daughters had a friend stay the night night before last. We had taken the kids to a festival here in town. He got so drunk he couldn't walk straight. Well we got home and he wanted to go to "bed".. I couldn't just run to the bedroom, the girls had company and I had to get a couple things done before bed. He of course got ticked. About an hour or so later, I seen him out of the corner of my eye look around the corner into the livingroom where the girls, their friend and I were at watching a movie. I figured he went back to bed and passed out. NOPE... about 15 minutes later I see him walk into the kitchen, coming towards the livingroom, NO CLOTHES ON FROM THE WASTE DOWN. He only had his t-shirt on and had his hands over his penis area. My daughters and their friend hurried up and pulled a blanket over there heads. They didn't see his penis because he had his hands over it. BUT I WAS PISSED!! I went to the bedroom and flipped out on him. That was unacceptable. I can't help but think he knew what he was doing cause he walked in with his hands over his private area. He was totally trashed, but that is not an excuse in my eyes. I feel there is NO excuse for that! I have not talked to him except to tell him how disgusting and wrong he is. I did tell him he was not drinking in this house anymore and I think we are going to seperate. He refuses to give up the alcohol and he refuses to leave the house. He also has stated he don't want anyone here. Not my family not his family..nobody! And he also made the comment that when people are here I pay attention to them, or I pay attention to my 2 daughters and don't give him any attention. That makes me feel that he has some jealousy towards our children. Why would he be jealous? I don't get it?! I personnally feel like he is mentally losing it.. but then I always second guess whether or not I am looking into it wrong or to much!! Probably because I have lived with an alcoholic to long. Is it legal for the police to hide and enter a backyard w/o going to the front door due to a noise complaint?

I had a small party that received a noise complaint and the police came. They did not go to the front door, instead they entered the neighbors yards and surrounded us. They tried to hide and sneak up but failed miserably and were immediately spotted. We were not drinking yet the police entered the patio and looked around with flashlights despite my protest to go to the front door and talk to my dad since I am a minor. They told me to sit down and continued looking around. Then as they were leaving they my neighbors garage door open and looked in the garage, even going so far as to take one step in. I have alot of respect for police just not the ones in my township and I feel like their actions were unnecessary and illegal. Backyard Ice Rink Help!?

I know it is only summer, but i want to start planning for a backyard ice rink in the winter. My first question is where can i get a plastic tarp/liner because i don't want to wait for the snow which most likely will not fall until january? Also, what would be a good size to play small hockey games on?( I was thinking around 85 feet x 27 feet).
